At The Nursing Lens, we are committed to making our website and content accessible to all users- regardless of ability, age, or technology.
We believe every nurse, caregiver, and community member should be able to access our stories, tools, and resources without barriers.
What We’re Doing
We aim to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, including:
- Text alternatives for all non-text content (images, videos, icons)
- Clear heading structures for screen readers
- Keyboard navigability (no mouse required)
- High-contrast design for readability
- Descriptive link text for screen reader context
- Captions or transcripts for embedded videos (coming soon)
Current Tools Used
We’ve selected the Ghost platform for its clean, semantic HTML output and accessible themes. We continuously test using:
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Browser zoom at 200%+
- Mobile accessibility tools
